Ive been waiting nearly a year for Winnebago to announce the arrival of their off-road 4 wheel drive RV, and that day has finally arrived! The Winnebago Revel is finally here!
I’m currently on a 1 year trip across the continent to explore and photograph the National Parks, and I’m doing it in my Porsche Cayenne SUV because there was no affordable off-road 4×4 RV on the market. Now there is!
Before I left on this trip I was debating buying the Winnebago Travato, but decided that it was too large and not capable enough for my needs. I was too anxious to wait for Winnebago to offer their 4×4 Mercedes Sprinter RV, so I departed on the trip in my SUV and planned to buy the Winnebago Revel as soon as they became available. Hopefully I can make it to a dealership while I’m on the road, and find one of these as soon as possible!
Designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts like me, the Winnebago Revel is based on the highly popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4X4 platform. The floor plan revolves around the standard European style rear “gear garage” with a power lift bed above it. When the bed is raised to the ceiling, 140 cubic feet of storage space is available for bicycles, climbing equipment, hiking gear and whatever else is needed for the next adventure.
The Revel offers an on-demand 4WD system, complete with high/low range and hill descent mode for added off-road capability. Construction of the Revel is specifically designed for durability with features such as welded aluminum cabinet face frames and positive-latching cabinet doors and drawers. Other features include a standard solar power system, all-electric galley (induction cooktop) and compressor refrigerator.
STARTING AT: $134,799
Designed specifically for active outdoor enthusiasts, the all-new Winnebago Revel takes a no-nonsense approach to adventure, with straightforward design and function-driven features. Taking full advantage of the proven 4×4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, the Revel’s 3-liter turbo-diesel puts 325 lbs./ft. of torque through an on-demand 4WD system, complete with high/low range and hill descent mode for added off-road capability. Inside, the Revel’s unique features start with a floor plan designed around a 140-cu. ft. gear garage with a power lift bed. A full galley, including a 2.5-cu. ft. compressor refrigerator, makes meal prep a breeze, while the all-in-one wet bath and gear closet boast a cassette-style toilet that eliminates the need for a separate black water holding tank. Add a standard solar power system, diesel-powered heating, a dinette with a pull-up table that converts to additional sleeping space, and many more innovative features and the result is the new Revel: quite simply the most off-road capable RV Winnebago has ever built.
